The small global map in the left hand column should gather the "hits" to the IAAP home page in a 24-hour period (only hits to this one page unfortunately) and display them graphically: "geographic information visualization." Since the counter is new, no hits will be visible until the next day. I discussed this with our Database Manager, Lucian Apostol, and we thought it would be worthwhile to give this a try since we are a global community. [ Note : the Hit Counter has been discontinued but the information is available from Google Analytics for summary reports. ]
For more information on "geographic information visualization," you can visit the site for "ClustrMaps" at http://www.clustrmaps.com -- the software is in the beta version right now and is free. No doubt it will become more sophisticated over time.
