CIPA CENTRO : ITALIANO DI PSICOLOGIA ANALITICA Milan. May 30th, 2007 Re: International Workshop : Ethics and Training : October 11th – 14th 2007 : Isola Rossa, Sardinia - Italy On behalf of Nadia Fina, Honorary Secretary of CIPA, and the Scientific and Organizing Committee of the Workshop on “Ethics and Training”, I am sending you information on the above event. Our Institute is organizing an International Workshop on “Ethics and Training” on 11th-14th October 2007 in Sardinia, Italy. In the last year in our Milan Institute we have been working on the problem of training and ethics and arrived to the conclusion that a wider discussion on this subject would be necessary if we had to find a common ground of understanding on the matter. Discussions about training and ethics can lead to very engaging confrontations. Differences of viewpoints can arouse strong feelings that range from passionate commitment to contentious opinions being expressed. Sometimes, defensive feelings can cause rifts instead of creating bridges. We thought the time has come for colleagues from a range of Training Societies and from different countries, with different historical backgrounds, to come together to discuss the issues, difficulties and perplexities surrounding contemporary views on training and ethics today. We have therefore been thinking of a workshop as the work in small groups seems to be the best tool to share a common work and to come to better know each other. In order to define such a large subject as Training and Ethics we are proposing the following topics: - How the requirements of training have changed over the years, if and how the trainees have changed. The topics are rather general so to stimulate the participation with papers on the different aspects of the general theme. As you will see from the program here enclosed, there will be three short main lectures and then groups work where participants can present short theoretical and clinical papers, no longer than 10 minutes each. The clinical paper should report a piece of a session or of a situation that the presenters believe important for showing a specific dynamic. The deadline for the presentation of the abstracts is September 15th, 2007.The deadline for registration is September 15th, 2007. We can accept pre-registration from now on, to be confirmed or renounced upon receipt of the final program. We are open to all suggestions and looking forward to hear from you. With all our best wishes For the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the Workshop You can download copies of the CIPA announcement, the registration form, and the information on hotel registration by going to the website Download section and clicking the link for "Upcoming Conferences : Brochures & Registration."
