VIIth   INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Jungian Analytic Training for the 21st Century
New Contexts and New Directions

Friday 16th June to Sunday 18th June 2006

McGill University, New Residence Hall, Montreal

The conference will take place between 11am on Friday 16 June and noon on Sunday 18 June, 2006, at New Residence Hall, McGill University. This residential conference will offer an opportunity to examine issues and problems relating to training as a Jungian analyst.

It will consist of a range of plenary lectures, panel presentations and large group discussions to encourage active dialogue between presenters and participants. Regular small group discussions rather than break-out workshops will provide the opportunity for participants to explore a wide range of issues which can be fed back to the plenary sessions.

PLENARY SESSIONS
Plenary lectures will be given by Michael Horne, Jan Wiener, Tom Kelly and Deborah Egger. They will focus on key issues such as:
 - What do we train analysts for? The theoretical and clinical foundation of a contemporary Jungian analytic training
- How are clinical theory and practice presented? Do they remain based on Jung's own theories, or on subsequent development of his ideas in relation to other branches of knowledge?

PANEL PRESENTATIONS and DISCUSSIONS
Proposals are invited for panel presentations and discussions which relate to one of the topics below:
-     Candidate recruitment and selection, including identity politics
-     Evaluation of candidates’ progress during training and support
-     The experience of training
-     Developing groups
-     The impact of statutory regulation on analytic trainings
-     Relationships within the training programme: Is there a relational rather than a hierarchical focus to facets of training?
-     Supervision: Is there a preferred pedagogical method?

Those who would like to take part in panel discussions, or convene a panel around these topics are invited to apply with a short summary of the focus of their subject area to journal.jap@btconnect.com by the 15th February 2006.
