Cape Town 2007 : Wednesday Evening : 15 August 2007
Evening: Drumming followed by "On Trail : Dr Ian Player is a veteran wilderness leader – he is not an analyst, but has steeped himself in Jungian psychology and lives it deeply. His respect for Jungian thinking is reflected in more than 50 dream-journals over a period of nearly 40 years. He has brought the wilderness areas of South Africa to the attention of many people in the world, and has led many trails with a number of Jungian analysts from abroad. He is the ‘father’ of the wilderness experience, certainly here in South Africa and for which he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Natal, but also for many people from all parts of the globe. His name is synonymous with the survival of the white rhino, the Wilderness Leadership School which he founded in 1957and the world-famous Duzi canoe marathon which he initiated and was the first winner. He is a founder member of the Cape of Good Hope Centre for Jungian Studies.
