XVIIth Congress of the International Association for Analytical Psychology August 12-17, 2007 Journeys Encounters As the program for the upcoming Congress in Cape Town takes form, we wish to encourage you to join us on the journey to this multifaceted event. A rich, full program is being put into place which is being augmented by many activities in and around the Congress as will be detailed on this website over the coming months. Currently the plenary sessions are all in place and can be viewed in the grid below. By clicking on the hyperlinks to the titles you can find information on the presentations and by clicking on the presenters’ names you can find photographs as well as some biographical and professional details about them. Since a number of the plenaries have South Africans who are from outside the IAAP community, it may be especially useful to learn more about the careers of these distinguished speakers and the links here will help start you on that path. While the language of each plenary is given in parenthesis, all of the plenaries will be translated into the official languages of the IAAP and as is customary, headsets will be made available without charge for those who wish to hear translations into the language of their choice. As you can see there will also be a number of breakout sessions each day. During these periods various presentations will be going on simultaneously requiring difficult choices among the offerings. To better orient congress goers, groupings of some presentations into bands (clinical, research, cultural, our institutional life, and Africa) have been arranged and these will be color coded on the program schedule. The titles and presenters for the breakout sessions will be posted later in the year. In addition there will be poster sessions where those who are registered can visit and more informally discuss the works on display with the authors of the sessions. This will provide a new venue for encounters at an IAAP Congress and create more opportunities to meet and dialogue with colleagues about their interests. A listing of poster titles and presenters will be available later in the year. Mornings before the start of the scientific program and evenings after the days’ presentations hold other activities related to the Congress. As has become the tradition at recent congresses, there will the opportunity to participate in the Social Dreaming Matrix or a reflective group event in the mornings. On the grid you can find an event listed for each evening ….[hyperlink to details?]. On the Sunday, August 11, during the day before the formal start of the Congress there will a pre-conference movement workshop, another congress tradition. Please visit this website and look for updates about the Congress through the next year. Registration will begin early next winter both on-line and through a regular mailing. The IAAP logo was created by Anca Colbert based on Albrecht Dürer’s 1525 Armillary Sphere; it captures the essence of the multiple within the whole. Anca Colbert :: Arts and Communication :: website:
