"As the Congress in Cape Town draws nearer...." -- a letter from the Congress Organising Committee in Cape Town. International Association for Analytical Psychology September 2006 Dear Colleagues As the Congress in Cape Town draws nearer, many of you will be making plans to come. The Congress organizers will send out a package at the beginning of 2007 with all the details for registration and accommodation. There is a wide range of hotels available near the Convention Centre, and, as it is not holiday season, there is no shortage of room space. So, please do not book outside the registration frame, as block bookings have already been made. (We will make alternative Bed & Breakfast accommodations available on the IAAP website, but these are not within walking distance to the Convention Centre and would require for you to have your own car or make use of taxis.) The most important thing for you to decide at this point is the dates of your flights – the earlier you book those, the cheaper the air tickets are. These should be done by you – the best deals can be found in this way. However, you might want to look into the possibility of what group travel discounts are available in your countries. Jan Wiener at jan.wiener@virgin.net would be the central source of information in the UK for people traveling through and from London. As far as safaris and tours are concerned: the Conference Management Website http://www.uct-cmc.co.za/home/ has on it a section on “Transfers and Tours” – the person responsible for this is Robin Troup: Tel. +27 (0) 82 657 3443 Email: wildsafari@worldonline.co.za There is also a website with special tours for our Congress on it: Please see www.wildlifesafari.co.za and go to “Conference Specials” – you will see our Congress mentioned. For any information or requests for extra tours you may wish to undertake, please contact Robin Troup. As you can see, he is well acquainted with the needs of Congress participants and will also be present at the Congress for day tour bookings and general transfers. Longer safaris into the rest of the country are best booked beforehand. While we do not want to commit ourselves to exact details regarding the costs at this stage (as there are items we are still negotiating) , we are aiming at making the congress fees less than those in Barcelona, and if the current exchange rate remains, the accommodation and other expenses will be in your favour. We look forward to welcoming you here. With best wishes for happy, successful planning and preparation Astrid Berg
