We hope that the Programme we have put together will tempt you sufficiently to come to the conference. The Conference Programme will be framed by a Social Dreaming Matrix, to be held slightly later than usual in the mornings to encourage all participants to attend. The facilitators of the Dream Matrix will also give the End Notes on Sunday (12.30-13.00) to complete the frame with their thoughts about the collective and unconscious life experienced through the Matrix during the conference.

The Programme offers plenary papers and panels, and break-out sessions chosen on the basis of clinical, historical/cultural or scientific themes. Some break-out sessions are shared with the Programme Committee combining speakers presenting on similar themes.

There will be simultaneous translation for the plenary papers which will also be available in Russian. There will be summaries of the break-out sessions in either English or Russian as necessary and there will be a translator present at all break-out sessions.

To allow sufficient time to digest experiences at the conference, there will be small group discussions after lunch on both Friday and Saturday afternoons. The focus for the groups will be on ‘east-west connections and disconnections’. Each group will have two moderators – one from Eastern Europe and the other from Western Europe - with conference participants being allocated to groups prior to the conference.

Three Clinical Workshops

Gustav Bovensiepen has offered to lead three small clinical workshops for experienced clinicians who work with adolescents. He would like to work with 6-10 people who are willing to sign up in advance for all three of his workshops during the conference. Members of the workshop will be asked to bring detailed write-ups of one or two sessions with an adolescent patient – as well as some background information – with copies for other members of the group.

Applications, including clinical experience, should be made to jan.wiener@virgin.net. These will then be passed on to Gustav Bovensiepen.

Dostoyevsky Memorial Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia

The memorial apartment of one of Russia's most renowned and prolific writers is conveniently located just one block away from Vladimirskaya metro station. Dostoyevsky lived here, his last apartment in St. Petersburg, between 1878 and 1881 and the flat is still filled with memorabilia relating to his life and work. Dostoyevsky based many of his stories and novels in St. Petersburg, especially in the Vladimirsky region of the city where his apartment is located. In celebration of his literary genius, the city erected a monument to the great writer in the spring of 1997, not far from Vladimirskaya metro station and from the Dostoevsky Memorial Museum.

The museum also hosts occasional exhibitions of contemporary art.

How to get there? Take the metro to Vladimirskaya Station, exit the station and turn right, and then walk for one block and you'll find the museum on the corner of the building on your right.
