Adolf Guggenbühl (1923-2008)

Biography

Adolf Guggenbühl was born in Zürich on May 25, 1923, the oldest son of Adolf Guggenbühl and Helene Guggenbühl-Huber. His father was a journalist and a writer, the publisher and editor of the Schweizer Spiegel, a monthly magazine that played an important roll in the fight against National Socialism. His mother came from a longstanding Zürich family in Maienfeld. During the pregnancy with Adolf she was studying medicine. Later she worked as an editor at the Schweizer Spiegel publishing company.

Adolf Guggenbühl spent his early childhood in Brookline, Mass. where his younger brother, Allen Guggenbühl, was born. Later and back in Switzerland, his sister Elizabeth came into the world.

We would like to inform you that Dr. oec. publ. Hilde Binswanger died at the age of 97, in Rheinfelden, Switzerland on August 12, 2008.

After eleven years of service, Dr. James Hollis is retiring from the position of Executive Director of the C. C. Jung Educational Center of Houston, TX in order to return to full time practice as a Jungian analyst. Accordingly, the Board of the Jung Center is looking to fill that leadership post beginning January, 2009. Jim will continue to teach at The Jung Center and will coordinate the new graduate program in Jungian studies offered in conjunction with Saybrook Graduate School.
