Charlotte M. Mathes, 1938 – 2018

Charlotte M. Mathes | April 19, 1938 – May 29, 2018

Charlotte died peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 surrounded by her loving friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Duncan McCord and her parents, Barbara E. Mayer and William P. Mayer. The journey of her life took her down many paths; she was a wife and a mother, a teacher, a social worker, a Jungian analyst, an author, a spiritual seeker, an advocate of the disenfranchised, and a committed friend. A woman with an open curiosity, she was a constant learner. She is survived by her husband, Mel Mathes, her son, Bill Mathes, her grandchildren, Bella and William Mathes, her loving sister, Georgia Trist (Nick), her devoted caregiver and friend, Kenia Escobar and many friends. Special thanks to her doctor, Carmen Sanchez, M.D., the caregivers at Home Instead and the loving nursing staff at East Jefferson Hospital. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to: National Alliance on Mental Health, P.O.
