It is with great sadness that we report to you that SHI Congxin (Anri), a member of the China Society for Analytical Psychology(CSAP), who became a Jungian analyst by resolution of the IAAP Congress in September, passed away on November 19, 2022, at the age of 50, due to stomach cancer.
She is an A-level analyst, supervisor, and trainer at the Oriental Academy for Analytical Psychology in China, and the initiator and one of the main leaders of the Hebei workstation of the “Garden of the Heart and Soul” (2009). She is also one of the two who translated Amor and Psyche: The Psychic Development of the Feminine, A Commentary on the Tale by Apuleius into Chinese, which wrote by Erich Neumann.
Our Chinese colleagues at CSAP are deeply saddened by the loss of Anri, a good colleague and comrade-in-arms. At the time of receiving the news, the Public Welfare Project Headquarters of “Garden of the Heart and Soul”, CSAP/IAAP, CSST/ISST China development organization, Oriental Academy for Analytical Psychology and Guangdong Association for Analytical Psychology, etc., published the obituary of Dr. Congxin’s death, and had a memorial service online on November 25, and we all commemorated her at “in honor of Dr. SHI Congxin”.
There is something showing that in the months leading up to her death, Dr. Congxin somehow came to realize the reality of the psyche and what the self-individuation looked like:
Dr. Congxin once said to her colleagues who visited her, “I have my own place to return to, so don’t feel sad for me”; more than three months before her death, she published a small poem in her WeChat circle of friends and which became her last words. “Fifty years of searching up and down, the sea floats and sinks as if waiting for leisure. In a dream, someone heard the sound of the human path, and a bright moon shone on the mulberry field.” The poem is accompanied by the following picture.
Below is a screenshot of her personal WeChat avatar before she passed away, which has become our permanent memory and remembrance.
Confucius, the supreme sage of Confucianism, said, “If you hear the Tao, you can die in the evening!” This is also what we feel slightly comforted…
With this, in memory of SHI Congxin, our eternal friend and colleague!
