In the Spotlight – Kathrin Asper

We are delighted to bring a portrait of another of our colleagues who has had a remarkable influence on the Jungian community. This time, Kathrin Asper is in the spotlight. Please enjoy Gražina Gudaitė’s portrait of Kathrin Asper below.

Kathrin Asper, Ph.D, is a Swiss Jungian analyst who had a private practice for many years; she was a lecturer and member of the Curatorium at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich-Kusnacht until she moved and became one of the founders of ISAPZURICH. She is now retired but still gives exams and lectures at ISAPZURICH.

Kathrin Asper was born in Kusnacht near Zurich. She studied literature and pedagogics at the University of Zurich, then wrote and defended a dissertation on Gustave Flaubert. In 1976, she became a Jungian analyst and started her private practice. She is the author of The Inner Child in Dreams, The Abandoned Child Within – On Losing and Regaining Self-Worth and numerous articles. Her last book has been translated into several languages and is an important source for Jungians training all over the world. Kathrin Asper has given seminars and supervisions to several societies and institutes. Her professional interests include early developmental deficits, narcissism, fairy tales, physical disability, art and literature.
